What To Do After Getting A Brazilian: A Guide For Wax Aftercare

Once you are done having your bikini wax, we happily announce to you that the worst part is over and you can begin enjoying your smooth and hair-free zone. But to keep that area hairless and healthy, there are a few things you should consider to guarantee smooth and soft skin, no ingrown hair, no irritation.

Brazilian waxes are known for the aesthetic benefits & convenience of no maintenance from clients that receive the service. While looking your best and staying confident are some of the amazing benefits of getting a Brazilian wax, there are other key benefits for maintaining a post-waxing routine.

Before we begin, keep in mind that every skin is different and what bothers others may not bother you and vice-versa, but the importance of after-wax care remains important and the same.

1. Avoid Direct Sunlight

Although most people who opt for bikini waxes do it to wear a bikini and spend hours under the sun, it is recommended to avoid direct sunlight for at least 48 hours or until the post-waxing redness has gone away.

Waxing is an exfoliating process in and of itself, and it removes skin cells that offer protection from the sun, therefore your skin is at higher risk of burning because of the exfoliation combined with the removal of the hair, which can provide somewhat of a physical block.

What you can do while staying in the shade is properly cleanse and moisturize your skin with the Daily Cleanse by Gaia Bare Care. It is a gentle soap with non-comedogenic properties that doesn’t leave residue, avoiding those pesky blackheads. The Daily Cleanse has natural plant-based ingredients nourishing your skin with its anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant benefits. Daily Cleanse is great for daily cleansing and gentle enough for the whole family!

2. Stay Away From Soaking And Steam

When hair is removed through waxing, the empty follicle is more prone to invasion by bacteria. You can shower after your wax treatment of course, but don’t take a bath or spend a lot of time in a pool, at least for the first 48 hours after your session, as any bacteria or chlorine in the water can irritate the skin. Also, the extreme heat of saunas and steam rooms can disturb skin and should be avoided right after waxing.

3. Let Your Skin Breathe

To prevent ingrown hairs and possible breakouts, it is crucial to avoid tight clothes that cover the waxed areas for the first hours after the treatment. The same applies to activities that encourage sweat, bacteria, and friction, such as going for a run or hitting the gym.

By maintaining a Brazilian wax routine, you may notice health benefits such as smoother skin, finer and thinner hair, longer-lasting results, and less irritation. We recommend waxing every three weeks at Gaia Waxing Beauty & Wellness Studio, exfoliating twice a week with G Bare Care Gritty Goddess  and then following up with Epilixir Ingrown Oil for at-home care.
